Maud McGrath Obituary

Maud C. McGrath

AGE: 86 years young • Califon

On October 19th, Maud left this world to join those that passed before her: Thomas V. McGrath, her husband and Timothy F. McGrath, her son. Despite the fact that Maud went in peace and lived a long life, she will be dearly missed by her three children: Thomas "Richard" McGrath and his loving partner, Beth S. Sadd, Donna M. McGrath and her loving partner, Gary Conley, and Nancy A. Belick, her grandchildren: Darryl McGrath, Kevin and Jenni McGrath, Shannon and Jeff Miller, Krista and Bobby Buckheit, and Chad Belick, and her great grandchildren: Madalyn McGrath, Maddox McGrath, Morgan McGrath, Konnor McGrath, Lilly Miller and soon to be born, Emma Miller.

Maud's accomplishments in life were vast including immigrating to the United States at the age of three from her birthplace, Lima, Peru, graduating from Marymount College, and working at Colgate Palmolive in Piscataway until the age of 70. In addition to raising her four children, she provided a loving summer home for her three grandchildren (Darryl, Kevin, and Shannon) while they were growing up. She even found time to travel to several countries with her daughter, Donna. Prior to moving to Califon, N.J. in 1978, she and her family lived in Somerset, N.J. During her later years she enjoyed the activities and friends at The Hunterdon County YMCA Senior Center, and we are, therefore, requesting that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Maud's name to the Center located at 285 County Road 513, Glen Gardner, N.J. 08826.

An opportunity to join Maud's family in a celebration of Maud's life will be on Thursday, October 25th between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM at The Coughlin Funeral Home located at 15 Academy St., Califon, N.J., or on Friday, October 26th between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. If you plan on attending the Friday morning gathering, please join us afterwards for a repast at Ono Rosa, 282 County Road 513, Glen Gardner, N.J.

Although I didn't have the pleasure of working with this wonderful lady, I did enjoy many lunches with her when she would visit her friends at the Colgate patent dept after she retired...she was wonderful and I am happy I had the opportunity to spend time with her...I smile when I think of her...sorry for your loss but what a gift she gave to her family and what wonderful memories she leaves with them.
