Michael Gaeta Obituary
AGE: 98 • North Brunswick
Michael F. Gaeta, Sr., of North Brunswick, NJ, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was 98. Born in Bayonne, he lived in Jamesburg, East Brunswick and Milltown, before moving to North Brunswick 44 years ago.
Michael retired as the Jamesburg Superintendent of Schools in 1977. He started his career with the Jamesburg Board of Education as an English teacher at the High School, and eventually was the Vice Principal and Principal of the High School.
He served in the US Army during both WWII and Korean War, and retired as Lt. Col from the Army Reserves.
Michael was an avid reader. He enjoyed fixing up the house and playing cards.
Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Ellanor (Wikoff) Gaeta; his sons and daughter-in-laws Michael F. and Lorraine Gaeta of Maryland, and Richard S. and Katy Gaeta of North Brunswick; his daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and William Hoover of Pennsylvania; his sister-in-law Louise Gaeta of Bayonne; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Blessing will be Thursday, August 11, 2016, 12 noon, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. Burial will follow at Brig General William C. Doyle Veterans Burial Park in Wrightstown. Friends and relatives may call on Thursday from 10:00 am till the time of service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the Disabled Veterans or the Wounded Warriors. You may sign the "obituary" email "guestbook" at www.crabiel.com

Mr. Gaeta was one of the finest men we have had the pleasure to be a part of our lives. The world and our school was a better place because he was a part of it. We were sorry he was unable to attend our 50th class reunion in 2014. He positively impacted so many of our lives. Our hearts are heavy, but I know he is in heaven in peace.

It sounds like Mr. Gaeta has had a long and wonderful life and may his family know that he was an outstanding principal for our high school and a man I will always remember.

Mike Gaeta was the best ! Our family will always remember him as a great educator and a friend to all. You could talk to him about anything. When I heard of his passing, I could see his face as if it was yesterday. John'59, Charles'60, James '61, Margaret '62, and Patricia Stoeffler '66.

In 1970, Mr. Gaeta offered me my first professional English teaching position at Jamesburg High School. He was a wonderful man who was always dedicated to the best interests of our students. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing.

Mr. Gaeta was beyond kind, understanding & so many more descriptive adjectives.
I've had the pleasure of knowing him during my tenure at JHS, there were few like him .

I will miss Mr. G. He was a great friend to my dad and I enjoyed spending time with hm, Mrs. G and the Gaeta gang. Spending time at one of the houses or one of our trips to NY. I wish I could make it down from Williamsport tomorrow but I cannot. God bless and keep you all.

My mother, Dorothy Panettiori, worked for a few years as Mr. Gaeta's secretary in the school system of Jamesburg. She thought very highly of him. I remember he was always nice to me whenever I visited the office. He will be missed and remembered by many, many people. RIP Mr. G.

I'm very sorry to hear of Mr. Gaeta's death. He was a very nice man, and a wonderful principal. He helped form many young lives.
