FARRAND
AGE: 77 HILLSBOROUGH
Paul Francis Farrand, 77, died peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, he was the son of Lillian (Jacobs) Farrand and Frederick W.E. Farrand. He resided most of his life in Framingham, MA before moving to Hillsborough, NJ in 2001. In Framingham, he was active in local politics, served as an elected Town Meeting member, elected Planning Board member and Chairman during the 1970s. Mr. Farrand served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant and is a veteran of the Korean War. Paul spent most of his career in Sales and Sales Training for several large corporations. His true passion was teaching and he was a faculty member at Framingham State College (MA) and Raritan Valley College (NJ). Paul was a kind and gentle person. He was a voracious reader, loved history and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Most recently, Paul enjoyed spending time teaching English to his good friend, Fan. Paul was a graduate of Boston College High School, Tufts University and Northeastern University MBA program.
Paul met his beloved wife of 49 years, Elaine Hayden Farrand, when he was 11 and she was 3. Years later, they fell in love and married in 1960. In addition to Elaine, he is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Tricia (Farrand) and Ron Kordalski of Neshanic Station, NJ; Paul G. Farrand and Julie Kalkowski of Omaha, NE; Christine Farrand of Linden, NJ and Juliane (Farrand) and Nikolai Bahram of Scotts Valley, CA; six grandchildren: Lauren & Charles Kordalski, Maureen & Emma Farrand, Alexander and André Bahram, his brother Richard of Bradenton, Florida, dear-in laws, Dr. Joseph & Betty Lou Hayden of Corinth, TX and Fr. Ted Hayden of Liberia, Africa. He is preceded in death by his brothers Mr. Edison Farrand, Mr. William Farrand and Dr. Robert Farrand. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at Hillsborough Funeral Home on Thursday, February 18th from 5-8pm. A memorial Mass will be held at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church on Friday, February 19th at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Society of African Missions (SMA) Liberian Scholarship Fund, 23 Bliss Avenue, Tenafly, NJ 07670.
