Pauline Vallon Obituary

Pauline Vallon

AGE: 106 • Lakewood

Pauline Vallon (nee Moroff), 106, of Lakewood, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 at Care One At Jackson, Jackson, NJ. Pauline was born in Minsk, Russia and resided in New York and Lakewood since childhood. Pauline worked hard all of her life. First in her family's businesses, The New Lakewood Hotel and The Oak Court Hotel, and later for Westchester Dairy Co. and Con Edison before retiring in 1971. She was a longtime active member of Temple Beth Am Lakewood, now Beth Am Shalom. Pauline was well known in her community for her dedication to many charitable causes. She began raising money for Deborah Hospital as a young adult and never stopped. She was quoted "I'll stop raising money for Deborah when I'm six feet under and not a minute sooner." Other causes Pauline was passionate about include Hadassah, Ocean County Jewish Federation, American Cancer Society, Beth Am Shalom Lakewood, ARMDI, and Kimball Medical Center. She served on the Lakewood Township Senior Advisory Board until age 98. Pauline was fortunate to have a sharp mind until her last breath. Her family is grateful to the loving staff of Care One At Jackson for all they did for Pauline in her last years, and Care Alternative Hospice for comforting her in her last days.

Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Nathan and Manya Morofchick; her brother, Sidney; her sisters, Eve Herson and Dorothy Wolin; her husband of almost 50 years, Paul; and her son, Jerome. She is survived by her loving granddaughters, Heidi Vallon of Mahopac, NY, Mona Vallon of San Diego, CA, and Arlene Vallon of Montclair, NJ; the mother of her granddaughters, Helene Vallon; her great grandson, Julian Putnam; her nephews, Michael Wolin and Gene Herson; and her niece, Joann Coyle; and many other family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Beth Am Shalom, 1235 Route 70 West, Lakewood, NJ. Interment will follow at Beth Olam Memorial Park, Lakewood, NJ. Donations to a charity of one's choice in Pauline's honor will be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.

I remember picking Pauline up at her home in Lakewood and driving her to high holiday services at Temple Beth Am many years ago. She was a wonderful person and always very charitable.
