Peter P. Check, Jr.

AGE: 68 • Englewood

Peter P. Check, Jr., 68, of Englewood, Florida passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his Charlotte County residence. Born on September 29, 1946 in South Amboy, NJ, Peter served in the U.S. Army reserve. He was a salesman for Gourmet Foods in Woodbridge, NJ. After retirement he moved to Florida from Metuchen, NJ in 2004. In Florida, Peter was a member of the American Legion Post 113 in Rotonda West; Englewood Eagles Aerie 3885 and the Loyal Order of Moose, Gulf Cove Chapter 2252 in Port Charlotte. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-nine years: Monica P. Check of Englewood, FL; one daughter: Jennifer Check of Keasbey, NJ; his mother: Evelyn Check of Panama City, FL; one step-daughter: Marybeth (Todd) Norton of Wilmington, OH; three step-sons: Patrick F. Allen of Lincroft, NJ; Peter C. (Carla) Allen of Ft. Pearce, FL; Cdr. Paul D. (Janine) Allen of Portsmouth, VA; two sisters: Carole Burhow of Panama City, FL; Deborah Lynch of Sayreville, NJ; seven grand children; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 1 Pm at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 5265 Placida Road, Grove City, FL. Entombment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park Cemetery in Englewood. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 or Englewood Helping Hand, Inc., Post Office Box 791, Englewood, FL 34295-0791 in memory of Peter Check. Englewood Community Funeral Home has been selected to serve the Check family. You may share a memory with them at www.englewoodfh.com

So sad to hear of Pete the Ump's passing. I fondly remember our times together at the Center Bar and him coming over to play cards with the guys. He was a great friend and I know he's resting comfortably in the arms of angels. Love and prayers to you and your families. XOXO
