Reta G. Denora

AGE: 88 • Warren

Reta G Denora, age: 88 died on Friday, September 27, 2013 at her home in Warren. She was born in Kansas and lived on her family's farm before moving to Portland, Oregon in 1933 after the dustbowl entered Kansas. She was raised in Portland and has resided in Warren for the past 45 years. Reta modeled for John Robert Powers modeling agency in New York City and traveled abroad to model. She was crowned Miss New York State in 1953 and was second runner-up for Miss Universe. Reta worked as a real estate broker and then as an interior designer for Autumn House in Bernardsville. Also, she was an excellent seamstress.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Michael Denora in 1992, her sister Pauline in 1959 and her brother Paul Schwertzmann in 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Heim of Warren, two grandchildren, Emalee Heim and Capt. Carl John Heim USMC and his wife Courtney and one great granddaughter Sadie Elizabeth Heim.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069, followed by a 3:00pm graveside service at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt.
