Richard Howell Obituary
AGE: 81 • Plainfield
Richard C. "Dickie" Howell, Sr., 81, died Sun. Oct. 27, 2013 at home. Born in Plainfield, he was a 1951 graduate of Plainfield and a lifelong resident. He was employed for 25 years with Hyatt Roller Bearing Co. in Clark retiring in 1985 and the Plainfield Post Office for 10 years retiring in 1995. Dickie was a member of Mt. Zion A. M. E. Church in Plainfield where he served as a trustee, usher and member of the culinary committee. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran during the Korean War.
He was predeceased by a son Roger Howell; 2 brothers, his twin brother Robert "Bobby" Howell and Arthur Howell and a sister Willie Ozell Massey. Surviving are his wife April A. Howell; 6 children Richard C., Jr. (Linda), Robin C. Howell-Miller (Alonzo); Tarsha Waiters (Albert), Dawn Glasko (Sherman), Michelle and Willie Grayer; 23 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Leroy and Milton Howell (Carol); 4 sisters Althea Williams, Margaret Collins (Louis), Gloria Howell-Washington and Naomi Jones (Donald); a daughter in law Leslie Howell; 2 sisters in law Barbara and Laceitta Howell and other relatives and friends.
Viewing Fri. 7-9pm in Mt. Zion A.M. E. Church, 630 East Front St. Plainfield. Funeral Sat. 9am in the church. Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Arrangements by Brown's Funeral Home.www.brownsfuneralhome.net

I know this is a guest book, but I use it as a way to communicate with you. You would be proud of Shai right now. Tomorrow she will be 21. Yes, no kids and she has finished school. She is now a Medical Assistant. No she doesn't have a job yet, but she will soon. I wish you were here to see this, I can see the smile on your face right now. You would be proud of your granddaughter.

The emptiness I feel is indescribable. I never knew it would hurt this much. I try to comfort myself by saying you're happy and healed, and I will see you soon. Needless to say I still have the tears in my eyes and an emptiness in my heart that could never be filled. I Love You and will miss you forever!
