Stella Barbara Rieder

Toms River

Stella Barbara Rieder, a long time resident of the Toms River area died Friday, February 18, 2011 at Leisure Park Nursing Care Center, Lakewood, NJ. Born in 1917 in Kearny, NJ to Caesar and Josephine Bubenas, she resided in Garwood,NJ for many years before moving to Toms River,NJ and then eventually to Leisure Parl, Lakewood. Stella was employed by the Boro of Garwood as the tax assessor's clerk before taking employment as guidance secretary at Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School, Clark, NJ where she was considered to be the heart and soul of the department. Stella loved good food, socializing and the joy of traveling with friends and family or just watching the many boats go by in her backyard. She was an active Communicant of St. Justin's Catholic Church, Toms River. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and never a bad word towards anyone.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years Conrad Rieder Sr., her daughter Barbara Pfeifer and son in law Herman of the Manasquan Park section of Wall, her son Conrad Rieder Jr of Brick, her brother Anthony Bubenas of Tujunga Valley, Ca. and her sisters Helen Laucius of Garwood,NJ and Mary Gailushas of Helena, MT and her 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Stanley Bubenas.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd. at Rt. 70, Brick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday February 24, 2011 at 9:30am at St. Justin's Church, 975 Fisher Blvd., Toms River, NJ 08753. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the The Alzheimer's Association,Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
