Stephen C. Hecht

AGE: 47 • Metuchen

Stephen C. Hecht, 47, of Metuchen passed away at home on Friday, April 1, 2011. Born on February 2, 1964 in New Brunswick, he was a life long resident of Metuchen. He was a retired letter carrier for the US Postal Service. He graduated from Metuchen High School in 1982, where he played varsity baseball and football for four years. He coached Pop Warner football and little league baseball. He was a big fan of the NY Jets.

He was predeceased by his mother Thelma Hecht and his sister Nancy Jo Thomas. He is survived by his son Jake R. Hecht of Alpha, NJ, father Richard N. Hecht of Rockport, TX, two brothers Robert Hecht of Metuchen and Richard Hecht Jr. of Metuchen, sister Mary Jane Johnson of Rockport, TX, two step-children Sarah and Dan.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Metuchen High School Booster Club. For directions, or to send a message of condolence visit our website at www.flynnfuneral.com

I went to Moss School all the way to MHS with Steve. I always loved how athletic he was. In 5th grade we had a push up competition. I think he won. My sorrow goes out to his family for their loss.
