Stephen Ronald Salva, age 75, died suddenly on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point Hospital, Hudson, Florida. The family members are saddened especially since he was to have celebrated his 76th birthday on Sunday at his home in Port Richey. He was born at home in Raritan Township New Jersey on March 10th 1937. He is predeceased by his parents Elizabeth Peklanske Cunliffe and Stephen A. Salva of New Jersey, his brother Daniel Rex Cunliffe of Homassassa, Florida and his daughter, Cynthia Ann Osler of Howell, N.J.

Mr. Salva is a veteran of the Navy having attained the rank of seaman in the late fifties during his four year tour of duty. Steve crossed the Equator aboard the U.S.S. Samuel B. Roberts 823 destroyer. He was active in the American Legion Crandall-Kossman Post 177 of Old Bridge, New Jersey before retiring to Port Richey and joining Hudson Post 335 in 2003. He was also a member of Hudson VFW Post 4412 and of Eagles Aerie #3997 in Hudson. He retired early when Perth Amboy Dry Dock closed and ended his career as a first class machinist. Steve was employed part-time as a courier for Amboy Madison Bank while living in Old Bridge. He was a communicant of St Michael the Archangel parish in Hudson.

Steve is survived by his wife of 55 years Catherine Skiba Salva, daughters Kathryn Salva Giudice of Waretown, New Jersey, Elaine Salva Dorn of Kulpmont, Pa, and his sons Stephen E. Salva of Los Angeles, Ca and Michael S. Salva of Old Bridge, N.J Steve will be missed by his eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren all of New Jersey. His sister Grace Cunliffe Peters of Monroe, New Jersey and his brother Thomas A. Cunliffe of Perth Amboy, NJ will also miss him.

Steve will be remembered fondly for his hospitality, cooking skills and sense of humor.

A memorial service is to be held, Friday, March 15th at 1 p.m. at Hudson American Legion Post 335, 11421 Osceola Dr. New Port Richey, Florida.
