Viola Ferris Obituary
AGE: 97 • Point Pleasant Beach
Viola Hansen Ferris, 97, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away, Saturday, February 28, 2015. She was born in Harrison to Norwegian immigrants, Arnt & Marie Hansen and lived in North Arlington, residing in Point Pleasant Beach since 1943. Mrs. Ferris was a devoted parishioner of Saint Mary's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She was predeceased by beloved husband, William W. Ferris, Sr.; her son in law, Wesley L. Wooten; and by all of her siblings. Surviving are her son, William W. Ferris, Jr. and his wife Kerry Lynn of WI and her daughter, Kim Wooten of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are her granddaughter, Kerry Ovalle and her husband Eduardo; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and David, all of MA; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
At 4 p.m., Saturday, March 14, a Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated at Saint Mary's by-the-Sea Church, Bay & Atlantic Aves., Point Pleasant Beach. Inurnment will take place at the parish memorial garden. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory to Saint Gregory's Pantry, 804 Bay Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742 would be appreciated. Kim, Will, Kerri & Ed; Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Mom/Grandmother. I remember her fonding as a wonderful, caring, warm woman. I was in charge of Mrs. Ferris for Kerri's wedding and had a fun time.
