William Burlew Obituary

William R. "Bill" Burlew

AGE: 57 • Colorado Springs

Bill Burlew, age 57, passed away after his 16 month fight with cancer. He died at his home in Colorado Springs on September 3, 2011 with his family at his side. He was born May 17, 1954 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Emery and Cecelia (Rupinski) Burlew. While his father preceded him in death, Bill is survived by his mother who resides in New Jersey. Bill was raised in New Jersey and lived in Colorado Springs for the past twenty years. He worked in construction most of his life until being employed by JCI at Hewlett Packard in shipping and receiving. He was an easy going guy who loved camping, fishing, playing horseshoes and throwing darts and drinking some beers with friends at the Caddy Shack.

Bill married Maureen Erickson on June 19, 1982 in South Amboy, New Jersey. Together they have a daughter, Nicole Burlew and son, Billy Burlew (Kari Hartle). Besides his wife, daughter, son and mother, he is also survived by his sisters: Barbara Defeo (Barry), Doris Cross (Drew), and Debi Silva (Dave) and his brother, Danny Burlew, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry and his father. He also leaves behind many friends in both New Jersey and Colorado.

Celebration of Bill's Life will be held Saturday, May 19th 2012 from 5pm to 10pm at Knights of Columbus Hall, 308 4th Street, South Amboy. Bill wanted to keep it casual and asked everyone to wear whatever they were comfortable in as he is in his jeans and a T-shirt. The family asks that everyone bring a letter with their fondest memory of Bill. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to Evercare Hospice. The family would also like to thank everyone from Evercare Hospice, Memorial Oncology and Dr. Dax and his staff for taking such wonderful care of Bill.
