George Conrad Heinold known to many as Conrad passed away on August 10, 2024 following a brief Illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and passed away peacefully.

He leaves a younger sister Carol Chanasyk of Hampton Falls, NH (husband Bert Chanasyk). He was a loving grandfather to 4 wonderful grandchildren, Brett Berta and Troy Berta of Wilmington, DE & Lily Heinold and Sophie Heinold of Charleston, SC who affectionately called him Poppy.

Conrad and Angie attended and graduated from Claymont High School in 1957. They attended the same school together from K to 12th grade. Conrad was a standout football player. He played in the Blue Gold All Star Game in Newark, Delaware earning All-American honors as a center. He also threw the shot put & discus and played basketball at Claymont HS.
Conrad and Angie tailgated and attended University of Delaware football games for decades and he also loved the Philadelphia Eagles. He served in the Army Reserve for 7 years.
He followed his own Dad's footsteps and worked his whole adult life as a union plumber with William D. Shellady retiring in 1996.
The family lived in Stanton, Delaware and many will recall their green farm house with the red barn on Telegraph Road. Conrad built two sailboats, taking the second 28 ft boat down through the Intercoastal Waterway on to the Bahama Islands with his family for a one-year adventure in 1971. Conrad was always feeding either horses, steer, pigs, chickens and even a pet goose. Many will fondly
remember his large organic garden that produced gigantic tomatoes and squash that he would always give away to friends and neighbors.
In 2004 Conrad and Angie retired to Chestertown, Maryland to be closer to the Chesapeake Bay they so loved having sailed there for the last 53 years. Conrad and Angie took numerous trips to several continents, sailed on most summer weekends, saw all 50 states and took their camper on many adventures. He loved food and In their world travels you would find him ordering simply "I'll take what the locals eat here".
Conrad stayed quite busy in retirement doing volunteer work with Rebuilding Together and going on mission trips to parts of the world who always welcomed a good plumber! He enjoyed the good life spending the summers in Chestertown & the winters in their little Conch House in Key West, FL. He will certainly be remembered for his soft spoken demeanor, friendliness to everyone, positive attitude, his spontaneity for adventure and his love for his wife and family.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday August 23rd at 11:00 at Chestertown Presbyterian Church, 905 Gateway Drive, Chestertown, MD 21620. We are so grateful to the entire staff at Chestertown Nursing and Rehab for their wonderful care of Conrad in his last days.
