Bessie Adkins Obituary

In Loving Memory of Bessie Faye Adkins

With heavy hearts but grateful spirits, we celebrate the remarkable life of Bessie Faye Adkins, a beacon of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Bessie's journey began on April 23, 1936, in Logan County, WV, and on May 22, 2024, in Mesa, AZ, she peacefully completed her time on earth, leaving behind a legacy that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.

Bessie was blessed to find the love of her life in Harold J Adkins, and together they crafted a love story that spanned nearly five decades before Harold's Heavenly departure. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, mutual respect, and unwavering commitment, serving as an inspiration to all who witnessed it.

Throughout her illustrious career spanning over 30 years, Bessie dedicated her talents to the Department of the Army. Her work allowed her to travel the globe, leaving her imprint on distant lands and hearts alike.

But Bessie's impact extended far beyond the confines of her professional realm. A devout member of the First Christian Church, Bessie's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her every action with grace and humility. Her dedication to the Samaritan's Purse Program epitomized her selflessness, as she tirelessly devoted her time and talents to uplift those in need, embodying the true essence of love thy neighbor.

As a cherished member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over half a century, she held esteemed positions, including Worthy Matron and various Grand Officer roles, embodying the values of sisterhood, service, and fellowship. Her involvement in the Rainbow Girls and Amaranth, helped instill the virtues of kindness, integrity, and compassion in those she served.

Bessie's legacy lives on through her cherished family, including her beloved children, David (Mary) Adkins, Regina (Jeff) Chesleigh, and Jesse Adkins. Her legacy further flourishes through her four grandchildren, Jeff (Savannah) Chesleigh, Rhiannon Adkins, Ashley (Matt) Verhoeven, and Kristina (Cody) Moncayo and 9 great grandchildren, Brennen, Connor, Jeffery, Maddison, Grant, Luke, Kinsley, Levi, and Elle, each a testament to the love and wisdom she imparted upon them.

As we bid farewell to Bessie, we find solace in the knowledge that her spirit soars among the heavens, reunited with her beloved Harold. Though Bessie may have left this world, her love, kindness, and determined spirit will forever illuminate our lives, guiding us through the darkest of days and inspiring us to embrace each moment with grace and gratitude.

A celebration of Bessie's life will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 10am at the First Christian Church in Sierra Vista, where her legacy will be honored and her memory cherished. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Cochise Memory Gardens.

Bessie was the sweetest, I loved playing cards and eating her delicious desserts. She even tried to teach me to crotchet, I didn't have the patience for it.
Sending hugs love and prayers to the family and loved ones. xoxo
