Our dear friend Jan Cole sat down in her favorite easy chair and peacefully passed away on September 13, 2024 in Sierra Vista, AZ. She was 83 years old. Jan was born in Kenton, OH where she and her siblings were raised by her mother Madeline. In 1959 Jan married Thomas Raymond Wolf. They had one son, Stephen Craig Wolf. In 1964 the family moved to Mesa, AZ. It was during this time that the couple divorced. Jan worked in the medical field in Mesa and raised her son Steve.
Jan met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Spencer Cole in 1976. Bob was a World War II Naval aviator. They married in January of 1977. Jan and Bob shared a love of animals, especially horses and dogs, most especially, their dog Jazz. In 1991, the Cole family moved to Sierra Vista, AZ.
Jan love to volunteer and help other people. She was an active member in the Military Officers Association of America and was also appointed by the court to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate. Additionally, Jan was a member of chapter FD Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) sisterhood. Jan was a long time active member of Sierra Vista Community United Church of Christ.
Jan was very active for many years in the American Red Cross. Her final volunteer assignment was at ground zero following the September 11, 2001 attack on New York City. It was there she picked up a number of physical ailments, making her truly a casualty of 9/11.
