Sherri Gobble Obituary

Sherri Gobble
November 2, 1948 - August 27, 2024
Sherri Dawn (Williams) Gobble, 75, of Benson, AZ, passed away Tuesday morning, August 27, 2024, at the home of her daughter in Tucson, AZ, after receiving a cancer diagnosis less than two weeks prior. Her husband, Larry Huy Gobble, of Benson, and her daughter, Tracix Renee Gobble Baker, of Tucson, were by her side.
Sherri was born November 2, 1948, in Rosiclare, IL, at the Rosiclare Hospital, on the banks of the beautiful Ohio River, where her father worked as a fluorspar miner. Sherri was the last of eight children born to the late Earl "Red" (Story) Williams and Opal Alma (Boulden) Williams, of Hardin County, IL. Due to various health issues in the family, when Sherri was two years old, her parents relocated to Benson, AZ, where she attended school, kindergarten through high school graduation (Class of 1966), and made many of her lifelong friends.
Sherri leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Larry Huy Gobble of Benson. Sherri was just fifteen, Larry seventeen, when they met at the old Benson movie theater. They were married at the Community Presbyterian Church, Benson, November 25, 1967, and had two children: son, George, and daughter, Tracix. Sherri took great pride in her role as a homemaker, wife, and mother.
Sherri was preceded in death by her son, George Miguel Gobble, January 7, 1974 - August 11, 2022.
In addition to her husband and daughter, Sherri is also survived by one sister, Linda "Tess" (Williams) Gamez of Tucson; one sister-in-law, Roberta "Berta" (Neill) Williams of Benson; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and her beloved son-in-law, Gavin H. Gobble Baker.
Sherri was also preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Opal Williams of Benson, AZ; three brothers, Garry "Gander," Jerry "Bud," and Solon "Doc" Williams, all of Arizona; and three sisters, Judith Lynn Williams, Ella May (Williams) Rose of Indiana, and Mary Beth "Dinkie" (Williams) Mau of Los Angeles and Hawaii.
Sherri, like her parents, had a heart of gold and was, by nature, 'the caregiver,' always generous and kind, supportive and caring. Like her mother, Sherri was also the communicator and the glue for family and friends.
From her sister, Tess: "I know there was a huge flight of angels there, anxiously awaiting your arrival. Also, you and Dinkie remember that there will be no arguing over who gets that space between Daddy and Mother! (Yes, I do remember that conversation!!)."
At Sherri's request, there will be no services.

Sherri had many stories to share, and we were all amused by her recollection.
Sherri was a very special person to me, and I was able to tell her how much she meant to me last January. I didn't have a clue as to her cancer; her blood tests were clear, but I had an urge to let her know that I loved her and appreciated her!
Sherri inspired me to be my best self. I would go to her with a problem; she would tell me, "Linnie, you can't win them all!"
That goes way deeper than a person would think. Do your best and take it for what it is; if it doesn't go your way, you can't win them all!

So deeply saddened to hear of Sherri´s passing. Truly one of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever known. The world will be a drearier place with her absence. All of our love to Larry and Tracix. Bob and Kathy Griffith

I have known Sherri since I was a new born, I will always cherish the time and privilege to call her a very dear friend. May she rest in peace with George and realize she is in a much better place with her family and closest friends. I have always loved her and her outgoing spirit.
