Daniel Duncan Obituary

Daniel Charles Duncan
Jacksonville - Daniel Charles Duncan, born on May 7, 1948, passed away from Pancreatic cancer on December 26, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy woven with love, family, and a profound appreciation for the people he met along the way.
The eldest of five boys, Dan was born to Charles "Boots' and Jean Duncan. He had fond memories of his younger years which included being voted Athlete of the Year at Lowell High School (Indiana), loving visits to his Grandma's "Pink-Violet Motel" and working with his brothers to build their parents' home. He attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong career in the agri-chemical industry.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda Duncan, Dan leaves behind a legacy of love and family bonds. His children, Danna and Chris Loud and their children Kelly (Stu Postiglione) and Creyton; Robyn and Scott Stewart and their children Jacob, Cameron, Eliot and Wesley; Matt and Emily Duncan and their children Ellie, Clara and Coen; and Tami Jansen, were the heartbeat of his existence. His devotion also extended to his brothers and their families, leaving a lasting impact on the Duncan family. He is survived by his four brothers and their respective partners and children: Don Duncan (Rebecca Duncan), Dave Duncan (Teresa Duncan), Dennis Duncan (Dawn Tennant) , and Dean Duncan (Sandy Ewen-Duncan). The cherished memories of fishing, skiing, and hours of playing cards and sharing stories around the kitchen table with Dan will live on with his very large extended family.
A longstanding member of the Presbyterian Church, Dan found solace and strength in his faith, which became a guiding light in both joyful and challenging times.
Beyond his professional endeavors and religious affiliations, Dan's true essence shone in his interactions with others. He always took a moment to connect, asking those he met about where they grew up and getting to know them on a personal level.
Dan found joy in the outdoors. He spent a week each summer in Canada fishing with friends and colleages. The rush of the Colorado River rapids added another chapter to his love for nature's wonders.
His close friendships with Paula Knox and his niece Shannon Duncan were a testament to his ability to foster meaningful connections.
As we bid farewell to Daniel Charles Duncan, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life marked by education, faith, industry, and, most importantly, genuine connections with people from all walks of life. May his spirit find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to embrace the beauty of human connection.

Dan was a joy to know. Loved his sense of humor. He was a great to help to me with advising on my retirement planning. Both he and Linda are in my thoughts so often and always makes me smile.
