James Boysen Obituary

James Alan Boysen, 64 of Austin TX, passed away on March 20, 2024 at his home after a battle with cancer. He was a native of Jacksonville, IL later moving to Davenport, IA, and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Jim graduated from West High School in 1978 going on to attend Cornell College, Saint Ambrose University, and Marycrest College earning dual bachelor's degrees and his Master's degree. He later moved to Austin, TX where he retired from BMC Software as a Software Developer after 40 years in the IT industry.

Through Jim's courageous life journey, it never dampened his spirit for life itself, faith, and love; love for his family and friends and the simple pleasures of life that he enjoyed from being a car enthusiast to playing his guitars, photography, music, tennis, and so much more.

Jim is survived by his beloved partner, Kay Mouser of KY; nephew, Allen Johnson of IL; niece, Camilla Walls of IL; great niece, Alicia Johnson of IL; Uncle, Wayne (Signe) Boysen of MN; Aunt, Kay Lincoln of IA; and several cousins.

He is also survived by numerous friends, each a cherished family member in their own right.

Preceding Jim in death were his parents Leon and Jean Allen Boysen and his sister Jane Johnson.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, November 1 at the Emmaus Road Church, 1811 Elmwood Road, DeWitt, IA. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until the time of the service at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Jim's memory to the Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF).

Rest in Peace Jim. Cheers to all the cassette tapes you made for me of our favorite bands. Cheers to all the times we cruised in your camero. Cheers to all the flash pods on stage, the park or other unmentionable places. Cheers to missing me when you were throwing those medical darts. Cheers to your life and the memories I have!
