VICKIE LEE CHAVIS
LUMBERTON — Ms. Vickie Lee Chavis, of 4715 N.C. 72 West, was born in Robeson County on Wednesday, July 17, 1957, and departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, completing her journey of 60 years.
Ms. Chavis was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. George Oliver and Dessie Lee Canady Chavis; and her pet cat, Basil.
She worked for Robeson Community College for over 20 years, and in her spare time she enjoyed shopping, reading books, adult coloring books and cats.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from Boles-Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton with the Rev. Carl Pevia and the Rev. James Mitchell Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Ten Mile Center Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her companion, Douglas Luther Hunt; a brother, Robert Earl Chavis of Lumberton; three sisters, Merdith Anne Chavis of Prince George, Va., Linda Chavis Locklear and husband, Ezar Locklear Jr., of Lumberton, and Katherine Hammonds and husband, Tommy, of Lumberton; and several nieces and nephews, James Oliver Hunt, Tony Jr. Hunt, Shawnee Bradford, Victoria Gracie Hunt, Gabrielle "Tootie" Chavis, Andrea Leigh Locklear, Haley Lynn Hammonds and Krista Hammonds Maynor.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday from the Boles-Biggs Funeral Home of Lumberton.

Vickie thanks for all the fond memories. Your hearty laugh was contagious. Thanks for all the great advice whether I asked for it or not. LOL! Thanks for the makeup tips, thanks for sharing your novels and magazines as a teen who loved to read. You always made me laugh. You were out a doubt a beautiful person inside and out. Vickie you left us all with amazing memories. Be sure to make the angels laugh in heaven with your grace and humor. You are truly missed.
