Eddie Joe Fortenberry Obituary

Eddie Joe Fortenberry Amelia Ann Fortenberry LOCKNEY -- Eddie Joe Fortenberry, 70, and Amelia Ann Fortenberry, 60, passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004. Their lives were full of family and friends and they blessed all they met. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at 9 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Abernathy with a graveside service following at the Lockney Memorial Cemetery at 1 p.m. Eddie and Amelia married May 26, 1985, and joined two families that day. They are survived by son and daughter-in-law Sam and Becky Fortenberry of Lockney, daughter and son-in-law Marcia and Keith Phillips of Lockney, son and daughter-in-law John and Retha Fortenberry of San Angelo, son and daughter-in-law David and Julie Abell of Plano and daughter and son-in-law Angela and Duke McDowell of Dripping Springs. They are the dear Pawpaw, MeMe, and Lulu to Chad and Jennifer Golden, Tyler and Lacy Phillips, Cecillie Fortenberry, Adrianne Fortenberry, Eddie Lee Fortenberry, Will McDowell, Lindsey McDowell, Grayson Golden, Grace Ann Abell, Grip Fortenberry, Trip Fortenberry, Grant Golden and Tyann Phillips. They are survived by 11 nieces and nephews. Eddie is also survived by three sisters, Pauline VanHoose of Kingsland, Louise Gilliams of Carlsbad, N.M., and Marie Strickland of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eula May Wilson. Eddie Joe was born on Feb. 6, 1934, in the Cedar Hill community in Floyd County. He was a 1952 graduate of Lockney High School. Eddie farmed and raised cattle in both Hale and Floyd counties and was a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. Amelia is also survived by her parents, James Hiram and Jerrine Parks of Lubbock, and her brother, James Doyle Parks of Idalou. She was born Aug. 10, 1943, in Lubbock. Amelia graduated in 1961 from Ralls High School and in 1977 from Texas Tech University. Amelia was the past chair of the Finance Committee of the First United Methodist Church of Abernathy. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home in Lockney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Abernathy where they were active members, or to the charity of your choice. Their legacy will continue to grow in the hearts of all whom they loved. DEATH NOTICES

i was very sorry to read about Eddie Joe, i have known him and his family since he was born, we have done a lots of running around together when we were kid. I really lost contact with everyone around Cedar Hill. I hear there is not very many of us left. i did not know his wife,nor any of their children, my wife and myself send our sincere prayers for their family. a very long time friend, Lloyd and Dortha Leach
