Mary,

We wanted to let you know we love you and think about you often.

We would have been there, but as you probably know Mama had a massive stroke on Chrismas Day and she was not feeling at the time of Vernon's passing.

Vernon was very special to both of us, as you are too, and we miss him greatly.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and please forgive me because I haven't contacted you sooner.

To Danielle and the rest of the family members:

We were both so sorry to hear about the passing of your loving father. We are praying for each and everyone of you during your time of grieving. May all of the fond and wonderful memories you have of Mr. Vernon be a comfort in the days and weeks to come. Remember that God always has a far greater plan than any of us can ever image. Try to take peace and comfort in knowing that Mr. Vernon is rejoicing and no longer suffering because he is happily sitting with our Lord in heaven. What a wonderful comfort it is to know that he is awaiting the arrival of his beloved family members and friends someday soon in heaven. We pray that God will bless and keep all of you safe in the days to come. You are all in our thoughts and we will be praying for each of you. All our love and deepest sympathy.

I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU ALL KNOW KNOW MUCH I LOVED UNCLE VERNON. HIM AND MY DADDY HAVE ALWAYS HAD SIMILIAR PERSONALITIES, AND I THOUGHT OF HIM AS MY SECOND DADDY. KIM, REMEMBER WHAT HE TOLD US THE DAY THAT WE WERE IN HIS ROOM IN CHARLESTON, THAT HE HOPED HE WAS AT LEAST HALF THE PERSON THAT PEOPLE THOUGHT THAT WE WAS, AND WE TOLD HIM THAT HE WAS MORE? TONIGHT,AS I WATCHED PEOPLE COME INTO THE FUNERAL HOME, AND THEN, SEEING ALL THOSE PEOPLE STANDING IN LINE OUTSIDE, WAITING TO GO INSIDE, I KNEW THAT WITHOUT A DOUBT, PEOPLE KNEW THAT HE WAS A KIND, GENTLE PERSON, AND THAT HE WAS LOVED SO MUCH MORE THAN HE COULD EVER HAVE KNOWN. I KNOW THAT HE IS LOOKING DOWN ON YOU ALL, AND NOT FOR A SINGLE MOMENT DO I BELIEVE THAT HE THINKS THAT YALL LET HIM DOWN. YOUR LOVE FOR HIM IS UNCONDITIONAL, AND SO IS HIS LOVE FOR YOU. NOT EVEN DEATH CAN EVER CHANGE THAT. IT IS MY HOPE AND PRAYER THAT ALL THOSE WHO KNEW AND LOVED UNCLE VERNON, WILL THINK ABOUT ORGAN DONATION, AND PASS THE WORD ON. MAYBE SOME OTHER FAMILY WILL NOT HAVE TO ENDURE THE HEARTACHE, AND PAIN THAT WE ARE FEELING NOW. WOULDN'T THAT BE A GREAT LEGACY FOR HIM TO LEAVE? I CANNOT PRETEND THAT I KNOW HOW GREAT YOUR PAIN IS, BUT I DO KNOW HOW WONDERFUL YOUR MEMORIES ARE, FOR I HAVE A WHOLE LIFETIME OF THEM ALSO, AND THERE ARE SO MANY MORE GOOD, THAN SAD. THINK ABOUT THE GOOD TIMES, AND FIND COMFORT IN THOSE. I LOVE YOU ALL, AND PLEASE ALWAYS KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOT IN THIS ALONE. WE WILL HELP YOU THROUGH.
