Blake Rigby Jenerette, 78, died Wednesday morning, February 11, 2015 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Born May 3, 1936, in Mullins, he was the son of the late William Douglas Jenerette and Mary Chandler Rigby Jenerette.
Rigby was retired from the City of Mullins where he worked as a dispatcher for the police department and from the United States military, having served in the United States Air Force and the South Carolina National Guard. Rigby could best be described as a people person for he never met a stranger. He had a passion for sports and loved to discuss it with others. For the last thirteen years of his life, Rigby lived in Florence, first at Elmcroft and later at Heritage Home. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Rigby was predeceased by two brothers, Giles and Billy, and three sisters, Marian, Ellen, and Annette.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Cedardale Cemetery in Mullins directed by Meares Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
