Cary Davis Obituary

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. | Mr. Cary Graham Davis, 82, of Winston-Salem, N.C., died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center following a four week illness.

Mr. Davis was born August 3, 1924 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to George Daniel and Maggie Tadlock Davis.

As soon as he was old enough, he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later re-enlisted to serve in the Korean War.

He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1979 after 34 years of service and spent the subsequent years dividing his time between homes in Winston-Salem, N.C. and Myrtle Beach.

Mr. Davis later worked for 14 summers at Myrtle Beach Travel Park where he welcomed many friends at the gate.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and great-granddaughter, Abigail McHale Fox.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanette Smith Davis of the home; and daughter, Christine Davis Fox of Jamestown, N.C.

Also surviving are grandsons, John Christian Davis Fox and wife, Ann Christine, of Winchester Va. and Joshua Andrew Stephen Fox of Nottingham, England.

In addition, he is survived by great-grandsons, Zachary Noah Fox and Austin Davis Fox of Winchester Va., plus unborn twin great-grandsons due in May of Winchester, Va.

Other survivors include sister, Ruby Davis Barwick of Fayetteville, N.C.; and brother, Leonard David Davis and wife, Sara, of Brooksville, Fla.

Memorial services will be held Monday, April 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Salem Funeral and Cremations.

The family will receive family and friends at the home immediately following the service.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Salem Funeral and Cremations from 7 until 8:30 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Myrtle Beach at a later date.

So sorry to hear about Graham. I always thought a lot of him. He was a my favorite Brother-In-Law and he really was a hard working and Took Real good care of his Family. Best husband. Best Father. My prayer's go with the whole family.
