Mr. Edgar Myrl Shelley, 81, husband of Carolyn Ray Shelley, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Shelley, an avid fisherman, was born November 3, 1934 in Horry County, a son of the late Willie Fred Shelley and the late Fannie Belle Curry Shelley. He had retired form SoPakCo as a truck driver. Mr. Shelley was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Shelley in addition to his wife of 60 years and of the home are: 3 Daughters: Merle Ann (Wayne) Lewis, Mary Jo (Ricky) Martin and Leslie (Neal) Fairbanks, all of Mullins; 7 Grandchildren: Heather (Alex) Small. Shelly (Bobby) Congdon, Stan (Lauren) Sawyer, Stacey (Scott) Elliott, Kari (Roger) Byrd, Eric (Greg) Taylor and Ian Fairbanks; 8 Great Grandchildren: a Sister: Betty Jo Dew of Mullins; a Special Friend and Neighbor: Robert Hayes; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shelley was predeceased by his twin brother, Earl Shelley and another brother, George W. Shelley.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, August 5, from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Alford and Rev. Chadwick Ivester officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery.

I am so sorry, Carolyn and Family for the loss of a special guy and great friend for many years. I have always Loved you all. You have felt like Famiy to me. So sorry I didn't know until late Thursday night. Special prayers to you. May God truly Bless each one of you.
