Truly heartbreaking to hear. Evan was in my platoon while stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska, 2003-2006. Evan worked hard and played hard but you could always count on him. Evan was a great entertainer and was always the center of attention. RIP brother, we have the watch.

I was in C864th Engineers stationed in Alaska with Utterback. We served in Afghanistan together. I´ll never forget they did a talent show during our deployment. He got on stage and sang for us the "nothing song". To this day I remember that song. He was a great soldier and he was a great person. May he rest in peace.

I am so beyond heartbroken. I met Monroe as a passenger in my Uber car. He touched my life in ways I can't even begin to say. He was such a good person. He had such an amazing heart and cares immensely for others. Especially his cat, they unexpectedly adopted each other. We stayed in contact and I'm just heartbroken to find out he is no longer here. There are people that are put in your life that put footprints on your hearts and Monroe was one of them for me!! He even gave me the honor to be able to call him Monroe which he said only his mother has that honor until then. I will miss him so very much!! Monroe , my dear friend, I love you!! iMay the Lord give you all the comfort that you need. May your soul rest in peace that you sought. Thank you for changing my life. You were my encouragement for my book. Didn't know you would be part of it. Since you have me the honor of your name, my book will be dedicated to you. You were inspiration for the theme of my book, the reason I started writing. You were encouraging to me and others around you, even if you were struggling. You were a strength to others even when you didn't know. I miss you so so so so so very much. I feared I would find your obituary since I hadn't heard back from you in a while. Why did I have to be right??!! You now ride shotgun with my 3 kids. God is with us co-piloting the wheel. I wanted you as a friend not a guardian angel. I love you my friend and I miss you. I'll see you when I join you all. Until then, ride with me please my dear friend. I just got you, you left to soon.

A huge loss for everyone that knew and loved Evan. Growing up, everyone could always count on Evan for a smile or a joke. His service and sacrifice for our country can never be repayed. Our world is a worse place without him.

Never a dull moment when Evan was around and his ability to make life a party will be missed in this world! The guy could make you laugh like no other and I have many memories of our time joking around in school together while also playing soccer as kids. Peace and love, my friend, from one class clown to another...

I fondly remember the first time I met Evan at Lowcountry Veterans Home. His smile lit the room with a heart just as large. Death has sadden me, but I am honored to have met him and get to know him. He is now at peace. Thank you for your service, Evan.
