Flo-Ann Bender, 71, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at home with her husband, Mark, at her side.
Born on June 8, 1941 in Cygnet, OH, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Ellen Wichner Rayle.
Mrs. Bender was a wife and mother, but she was also a career woman. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH with a Bachelor of Education. She was a teacher of various levels of learning and one year taught all eight grades in a one room school. She continued her education and became a social worker and a coordinator of foster care. She studied and worked for twenty five years in the insurance industry and became a financial planner. She held many offices in various clubs, organizations and societies, both charitable, personal and professional. She loved to write and had some of her stories published. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, Mah Jong, and working with scrapbooks.
She, with her husband, Mark, completed the American Great Loop Cruise on their own boat and received the Baccalooperate Degree.
She was a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
Other than her husband of 25 years, Mark Stephen Bender of Little River, Flo-Ann is survived by two daughters, Launa M. Staub of New Oxford, PA, Stephanie A. Silvey of Broomfield, CO; stepson, Todd A. Bender of York, PA; sister, Nona Lee Lucas of West Branch, MI; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Risen Christ Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.

Dear Mark and Family;
It has been such a joy and blessing having FloAnn as a dear friend. She was a loving, caring and humble person who loved the Lord. She liked to talk about Jesus and discuss the Bible. She was a faithful servant. It has been a honor and privilege spending time with her. I will truly miss her. I know she is at home with the Lord. I thank God for putting FloAnn in my path. I will always cherish the fond memories we made spending time together. I will keep you and your family in my prayers for comfort and peace.
