This Gathering of Love
We’ve come together from far + near-to share joy, peace, also tears.
To gather to say our farewells-to remember, to forget, to tell.
To tell of our brothers life-to tell of his struggle, his fight.
His fight to ultimately stand-and be Gods powerful man.
But as we all know-Fred’s light flickered as it glowed.
He struggled with many things, in his life-and slowly it took his bright.
He lost his leg, never his smile-That shined for miles.
In many ways we are the same-in our struggle to beat the game.
I remember his yesterdays, I was his today’s-as I see the bloodline that made its way.
In this crowd the old is mixed with the young-I see the different ways of grieving for everyone.
I see row after row, into this family-the bloodline of life the Gores contribution to this community.
Mom, dad, brothers, sons-and the blood is thick in everyone.
The likeness passed from father to child-every brother, son share in that smile.
See I met this family many years ago-when life was bright,+ everyone glowed.
I walked into this gathering of love-as the Gore family showered me with hugs.
We’d laugh together all the time-that’s how I will always remember you, all in my mind.
I will remember how your family-allowed me to be.
Be a part of a real family with love-see, in my family, life was always a shove.
So when I came to Atlantic Beach-there was a foundation under its feet.
A lot of you became my friend-I felt I was a part of life, that wasn’t pretend.
I watched many of you stand- become great women, and awesome man.
I! to am sad in many ways-at this full circle moment we share in today.
I know Fred wouldn’t want us to cry-he’d want us to laugh, smile, as we say goodbye.
So I hope, I’ve done what You ask me to-trying to share a tiny bit, of you.
God Bless You Fred,
