Frederick Joseph Kahl, Jr.

Frederick Joseph Kahl, Jr., age 78, passed away Wednesday, November 09, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Kahl was born March 20, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Frederick Joseph Kahl, Sr. and the late Sadie Rinaudo Kahl.
Mr. Kahl was a decorated Korean War veteran that served in the US Marine Corps from 1953-1956. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Westinghouse as a Design Engineer with more than 35 years of service. Mr. Kahl received the Governors Citation in the State of Maryland in 1993, an award for his excellent service and dedication. Mr. Kahl moved to Myrtle Beach form Catonsville, MD in 2000 and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach where he served as an usher.
In addition to his parents his brother, Michael Kahl, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Bernadette A. Kahl; his sons, Christopher C. Kahl and his wife, Margaret, of Ellicott City, MD, Craig S. Kahl and his wife, Michelle, of Catonsville, MD; his brother, Salvatore Kahl and his wife, Nora, of Overlea, MD; his sister, Constance Fowler of Baltimore, MD; his sister-in-law, Patrinia Kahl of Baltimore County, MD; four grandchildren, Stephen J. Kahl, Jonathan Kahl, Caroline Kahl all of Ellicott City, MD and Alexander Frederick Kahl of Catonsville, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Catonsville, MD.
Burial with military honors will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Hubbard Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
McMillan-Small Funeral Home is serving the family locally.
Hubbard Funeral Home, 4107 Wilkens Ave., Baltimore, MD is in charge of arrangements.
