Myrtle Beach , South Carolina - Gabriel Paul Joseph, Jr. died December 12, 2021, of complications from Alzheimer's disease. Paul was born October 1, 1947, in Conway, SC. He was the son of Dr. & Mrs. Gabriel Paul Joseph, a Lebanese American physician, and a spitfire Branchville nurse. He was their first born, only son, and golden child. Paul was a wild teenager who spent his summers calling bingo at Sloppy Joe's (removing rowdies when necessary) and burning up the road between Myrtle Beach and Garden City, where he waterskied whenever he could. He attended Emory University for undergraduate studies. In the US Navy he dutifully served his country by protecting his fellow sailors at various Mediterranean ports-of-call. He studied law at the University of South Carolina and had a happy and successful career as a DUI lawyer in Myrtle Beach. He gained a reputation for being practical, efficient, and dynamic in and out of the courtroom. Paul was tough, smart, kind-hearted, delightfully irreverent, and hilarious. He lived by the adage that a man is only as good as his word. He loved his family and friends, his yard, the beach, golf, and every pretty woman he ever met. He never wasted a moment worrying what others thought of him. Paul's fun-loving personality made him larger than life.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Joseph; children from his previous marriage, Sara Brice Joseph and Gabriel Paul Joseph, III; daughter Marissa Joseph and her children, Briley, Marilyn, and Gabriella; and sisters Mary Jo Baird, Jody Martindale, and Jane Sheppard.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America and the Grand Strand Humane Society.
Friends are invited to a celebration of his life at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot on January 19, 2022, from 4-7pm.
