Mr. Gene "Bill" Hooks
April 7, 1936 - September 17, 2011
Loris, SC
Mr. Gene Boston "Bill" Hooks, age 75, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center following an illness. Born on April 7, 1936 in Loris, SC, he was the son of Mr. Grady Emerson Hooks and Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Hooks Tyler. Mr. Hooks served his country in the United States Air Force, worked as a Barber most of his life and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sheila Hooks Winters and Cheryl Whittemore and husband, Mark all of California; sister, Katrina Cox and husband, Jimmy D. of Longs, SC and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Mr. Hooks was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Ann Hooks Wilson.
Memorial services will be 7:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with visitation one hour prior to services. Reverend Alvin Jackson will officiate. Memorials may be made to Cane Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 760 Cane Branch Road, Loris, SC 29569 or AA World Services, Inc., PO Box 459 New York, NY 10163.
