Lurlyn Pinkerton Obituary
August 20, 1930 - April 18, 2022
Camden, South Carolina - A Mass of Christian Burial for, Ms. Lurlyn (Lynn) Springs Pinkerton, 91, will be celebrated Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 1529 Assembly St., Columbia, S.C. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Peter's Church Cemetery.
Ms. Pinkerton passed away April 18, 2022. Born in Loris, S.C. August 2, 1930, to the late Thomas Bradley Springs and Alicia Eulalee Carter Springs (Carnaggio) and step father, Anthony C. Carnaggio.
She graduated from Columbia High School and attended Wintrhop University and The University of Tennesse- Nashville. She retired from John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance in 1978. Upon her return to Horry County, she earned a Paralegal Certificate from Horry Georgetown Technical College and worked for a few years in the legal field.
Ms. Pinkerton was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea in North Myrtle Beach as well as a member of the Ladies Guild, a certified Lay Catechist Teacher and taught First Communion at Our Lady Star of the Sea, St. Peter's Catholic Church in Columbia, S.C. as well as St. Henry's Catholic Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
She was a tutor in the Laubach program of the Horry County Literacy Council. She served several years as an officer of the Grand Strand's Parkinson's Support Group and a former officer and member of Friendship Connection.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Diane Rea (Bob) of Lugoff, S.C., a granddaughter Jenniffer Lynn Johnson (Brent) also of Lugoff, S.C., Jean Marie Merritts and Joy Lea Pack (Bobby) all of Georgetown, S.C. Great grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Cody Howard, Amber Rea Pack, and Bobby Lee Pack III.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Julian L. Johnson Jr., and brother William D. Springs of Wilmington, N.C. and Jack L. Springs of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1100 8th Avenue North, North Myrtle Beach S.C. 29582 or St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 1529 Assembly St., Columbia SC 29201.
