Mary McIver Obituary
Mary Anne, daughter of the late Ike and Fannie Cloud Jackson, was born on Feb. 20, 1938 in Clover, S.C., where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She received her AB Degree from Claflin University and an M.Ed from South Carolina State University.
The Rev. Mary Anne McIver taught in the Horry County Public School District for 33 years. Following the footsteps of her mother, ''Ma Fannie'', Mary Anne provided private piano lessons to students in the community for over 30 years.
Throughout her life, Mary Anne's faith in God remained strong. She joined the clergy in the United Methodist Church as an ordained Deacon in full connection. For many years she served as an active church musician and assumed numerous responsibilities within the local, district, and state United Methodist Conference.
She was a member of the Kappa Zeta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; was one of the founding members of the Horry County Arts Council; and also served on the Board of Directors for the Waccamaw Youth Center.
She is survived by her beloved husband, the Rev. Leslie H. McIver Sr.; a daughter, Pamela Gaines Hughes and her husband, Michael of Conway; three sons, Leslie H. McIver Jr. and his wife, Thanh Nga of Charlotte, N.C., Kenneth W. McIver of Atlantic Beach and Keith W. McIver of Columbia; three grandchildren, Shiree N. Hughes, Jeremy H. McIver, and Madeline E. McIver; two brothers, Andy Jackson and his wife, Lessie of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Isaac ''Butch'' Jackson and his wife, Alice of Baltimore, Md.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and a special friend and neighbor, Mrs. Gracie Stanley.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Jackson Gaines and Beulah ''Check'' Jackson.
Rev. Mary Anne McIver was loved by many, and will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Christ United Methodist Church, 2902 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach, S.C. (behind the Old Myrtle Beach Pottery). The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McKiever Funeral Home.

I was shocked to hear of the passing of Mrs. McIver. She was such a wonderful and dear person. My fondest memories of elementary school are of music classes with her. I will always remember Who Stole the Cookies From the Cookie Jar and the way she would sway back and forth, clapping her hands, smiling and laughing. I don't think I ever saw her when she wasn't smiling. She always had a hug for me-as a child and as an adult. She will be deeply missed, but the joy that she brought to me and to so many other children will always remain in our hearts. Being the former Grants-Special Projects Coordinator for the City of Conway, I had the pleasure to meet and chat with Mrs. McIver on several occasions via her husband's dedicated work as a former Conway Councilman and a Board Member of Smith-Jones Community-Recreational Center. It was obvious that she was a special and talented lady that will be dearly missed. Councilman McIver would always speak very highly of his lovely wife that he loved very much. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the funeral. However, during these sad times, my thoughts and prayers are with the family. God bless.
