Shirley & Phil,
I'm so sorry to hear of Jody's passing. He was a wonderful addition to our Fantasy Camp. His infectious smile and cocky attitude made the camp experience better for his teammates and fellow campers. He will surely be missed and I'm sure we will spend many hours at future camps reminiscing over times shared with "The Sherriff".

The thoughts and prayers of myself and the entire Sports Adventures Family go out to you and your family.

Shirley, When we went to Fantasy Camp in Fort Myers, there was only one Sheriff in town and that was Phillip. He loved camp and camp loved him - You should take solace in the fact that Phillip was able to find something he really enjoyed. He loved playing for Steamer and Shag and his teammates loved him. I can still hear him laughing and yelling at the players. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family. Lane & Mary Perrins

Shirley, I will miss the Sheriff, he was a blast to hang with. He loved life, loved to smile and crack jokes. He had a great sense of humor. He would often berate me from the coaches box with Shag Crawford, or would sit next to Bob Stanley in the dugout and act like he owned the ball club. Please make sure you take care of Homey for the Sheriff. I will miss his trips to Boston.

Mrs. Shirley & Mr. Phil, little did I know 20 some odd years ago when Renee made me go to her family reunion( kicking & screaming I might add) that I would meet one of the best friends that I have ever had or will ever have. Out first trip was to Welcome NC to Dale Earnhardt open house. Jody had his camera but was to shy to ask to stop for film. I know sometimes I wonder if that was a cloan, because Jody being shy? Not possible. But it wasn't long before he lived at out house. Before he got his license we would pick him up & carry him with us just like he was our own. We went to MANY sporting events since that day and had so many laughs. I havent regretted a single trip. He scared me sometimes because I knew he really wasn't able to go but he got in the car or on the airplane anyway. He said "we will find a hospital when we get there" and sometimes we had to. I'm so thankful you shared him with us. We will cherish those memories forever.

That came from such wonderful parents as you.The sun shined so much brighter when he was around. He made such a positive influnce in so many peoples lifes especially young people that he came in contact.with. My son Phillip always spoke so highly of him when he was hanging out with Brock during their elementary years at Kingston Elementary. He was a "Great Person". Dear Shirley, I can't even imagine the pain you and your husband are going through right now. You will have to cling to your faith now for that sufficient grace Paul speaks of in 2 Cor. 12:9. I know Jody was your traveling buddy. What special memories you have hid in your heart. May you all draw comfort from those in the days ahead. Love to you all.
