Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - Robert "Rocky" McKenzie Covington, Jr., 73, went to be with his beloved Lord and Savior, Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Born in Charlotte and raised in Rockingham, NC, he was the only son of the late Robert McKenzie Covington, Sr. and Mae Ballard Covington. Rocky is survived by his wife Sandra "Sandy" Yarborough Covington and their beloved puppy, Wick.
Rocky was a devoted Christian with a generous soul, loved by all, and rarely met a stranger. His buddies would all agree, they were his best friend, although he never played favorites. Rocky loved all sports, with a passion for golf and the UNC Tar Heels. He was a member of the Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College, Basketball Hall of Fame and he cherished his affiliation to the school throughout his life.
Rocky and his wife Sandy worked side by side for over 40 years, growing their successful business together. They enjoyed simply being together, at home, taking in the view from their home in Myrtle Beach, SC.
A private graveside service will be held and the family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
In leu of flowers, donations may be made to Barton College.

Rocky will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him, for if you did you also loved him. He had a huge presence and carried himself with dignity and respect. Rocky loved with all his heart and we were blessed to have him in our lives. We pray, Sandy, that the Lord will start to heal the huge hole left in your heart, until you meet him again. We love you !

I knew Rockey for over 25 years, and in that time we got to be very good friends. He was kind, selfless and always thinking of others. I believe most people would agree Rockey was inspirational. Rockey, go with God Until we meet again.
