Robert Weinheimer Obituary

Robert T. Weinheimer, 89, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Loris Community Hospital following an illness.
Born October 22, 1921 in Erie, Pa., he was the son of the late William F. Weinheimer and the late Leonora Dippo Weinheimer. Mr. Weinheimer was a retired brick mason and a member of the Loris Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred McCutcheon Weinheimer; and his sister, Ruth E. Greenman of North East, Pa. He loved his nieces and nephews, Tom and Nancy Greenman, Lee Brannon, Robert and Cynthia Greenman, Tim and Helen Sexton, Tony and Linda Mazza, and Bill and Lin Greenman. He had great nieces and nephews who loved him, Chuck and Mary Brannon (Rachel and Abby), Pat and Laura Mowery (Kimmy, Brady, Olivia, Joshua, Emmalee, Kaitlynn), Steve and Jenny Ziebarth (Nathan), Paul and Maureen McGee (Ben, Timmy, Jonathan), Lorraine Sexton, Ralph Mazza and Ruth Shaffer, Jeff Mazza, Amy Mazza, Steve and Sarah Greenman, and Debbie Kent (Ryan).
As a young man he worked at his dad's, Weinheimer's Grocery Store, and in 1939, he opened his own restaurant on Main Street in North East, Pa. In 1943 -1945 he joined the U.S. Army and was a World War II Veteran. After the war, he bought a truck and had Weinheimer Brick and Block Masonry written on it. He worked in North East, Pa., around the community. In 1963-1985 he moved to San Jose, Calif., where he was a Brick Layer and Cement Contractor until he retired. He lived in Ripley, N.Y., a short time before moving to Barefoot Bay, Fla., in 1986-2000 where he enjoyed golfing and making woodcrafts. And from 2000 to the present time, he lived in Captain's Choice Community, Little River. Mr. Weinheimer's WoodCrafts were displayed at the Art in Chapin Park Shows in Myrtle Beach. He was known for his happy spirit and loved to whistle while he worked.
A memorial donation can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 425, Loris, SC 29569 where Bob and Winnie attended faithfully. Through the Hardwick Funeral Home of Loris, the William D. Elkin Funeral Home of 65 South Lake St., North East, Pa., is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
