Shirley Ann McElroy, 82, formerly of Leesburg, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley moved to the Myrtle Beach area in 2000 and was a homemaker. She had been employed by Bulova Watch Company in the 1940's; IBM in the 1970's and US Airways in the late 1980's. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, William J. McElroy in December 1996. She enjoyed line dancing, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are three sons, Kerry Raymond McElroy and wife, Vicky Dawn, Bruce Stephen McElroy and Brian Paul McElroy; six grandchildren, Bryce Stephen, Ty William, Logan Blaine, Rebecca Rae, Raechel Ann and Kelsey Barbara; and a former daughter-in-law, Kathleen Mallet.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in the McMillan-Small Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. Kirk Lawton, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Internment will be held at a later date in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Memorials may be made to Mercy Care, 8216 Devon Court, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.

McElroy family ... I think that preacher said it well with "we feel your pain in our hearts."
Speaking of the preacher, what a great service he did. Ty, Logan, (I don't know the girl's name) performed beautifully. Carrie and Bryce gave wonderful eulogies - I was laughing and crying at once. "The general" -- lol, yep - but what a great general. She will be missed.
