Thomas Cannon Obituary

Thomas Vernon Cannon, Sr., of James Island, formerly of Bonneau and Mt. Pleasant, S.C., passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011. The funeral service for Mr. Cannon will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2010 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cannon was born July 28, 1928, in Conway, S.C., son of the late Samuel D. Cannon, and Fannie Bourne Cannon Collins and her husband, Edgar Collins, of Bucksport. He retired from the U.S. Air Force. He also retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Shop 56.
Surviving are his son, Thomas V. Cannon, Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Awendaw; one daughter, Carol Irizarry and her husband, Mike, of James Island; four grandchildren, Shana Haynie and her husband, Christian, of Austin, Texas, Jenna Boyce and her husband, Chris, Mark Cannon and his wife, Sabrina, and Jessica McDonald; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Eli, Samantha and Ryan; and one brother, Lamar Cannon and his wife, Beverly, of Heber Springs, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith J. Cannon.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alice Boylan for her compassion and expert care.
