Vina Jones Obituary

FOUNTAIN INN | Vina Lee Jones, left this life to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2005 at 1:25 a.m. from Fountain Inn.

Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 5, 1924 in Conway, the daughter of the late Alvie and Eliza Rabon. She enjoyed good gospel singing, preaching, fellowship and good food. Her favorite scripture was the 91st chapter of the Book of Psalms.



On May 18, 1940, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Joseph W. Jones. She was united with Savannah Bluff Pentecostal Holiness Church in 1941 where she was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. In 1946, she joined Conway Church of God. She has served faithfully as Childrens Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Willing Worker Band President and adult choir member.



Mrs. Jones worked ten years as dry cleaners and laundry manager for the Myrtle Beach A.F.B. and three years as drapery maker for Herbert Jolly. She then became owner of Vina's Fabric Fashions until 1979 when she had the first of three strokes. Prior to these illnesses, she enjoyed more than ten years of entrepreneurship.





Surviving are an only son, Danny Joe Jones and his wife, Vicki Lynn, of Simpsonville; three grandchildren, Bobby Joe Jones and his wife, Cathy, of Simpsonville, Cynthia Lynn Starosta and her husband, Peter, of Atlanta, Ga. and David Dean Jones and wife, Annette, of Mauldin; five great-grandchildren, Bobby Joe II, Michaela and Megan Jones, Henry and Theodore Starosta; one sister, Betty Howell of Columbia, four half-sisters, Doris Bertram of Anderson, Freddie Poston of Aynor, Hattie Johnson and Hazel Harley both of North Charleston and two half-brothers, Billy Rabon and Acie Rabon both of North Charleston; also a host of relatives and friends.



Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Chambers and the Rev. Derrick Cutter officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home.
