Audrey Ainsley Obituary

Audrey Ainsley
Born: October 15, 1917
Died: October 15, 2023
Audrey Ainsley passed away the morning of her 106th birthday in Foley, Alabama. She leaves behind a legacy of love and positivity spanning more than a century. A private family memorial will be held in November.
Born Oct. 15, 1917 in Streator, Audrey was a remarkable woman who witnessed profound changes of the world around her. She was a dedicated wife to her late husband, George "Jiggs" Ainsley. Audrey is preceded in death by her son Robert Ainsley, her granddaughter Pamela Ainsley, and her great-grandson Brett Ainsley. She is survived by two daughters, Marlain (William) Ahearn and Patricia (Gary) Smith, a daughter-in-law Diane Ainsley, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, who all loved her dearly.
Audrey's life was characterized by her generosity, which was evident by the countless crocheted blankets, baby bonnets and sweaters she made and gifted over the years. She was a bookkeper for many years and had an active spirit. She spent most of her life square dancing, playing bridge, traveling, painting, volunteering, and regularly attending classes at the YMCA, even beyond her 100th birthday.
Audrey was an inspiration to everyone she encountered, reminding us all that age is but a number.
