Died: October 13, 2023 in Ottawa, IL
Avis E. Harcharik, 81 of Ottawa and formerly of Streator passed away Friday morning (October 13, 2023) at the LaSalle County Nursing Home.
Private family services will be held with burial in the Riverview Cemetery.
Avis was born on November 24, 1941, in Streator to Ellis and Alma (Mitchell) Hedrick. She married Edwin Harcharik on May 31, 1960. He survives.
Also surviving is a daughter Dianna Johnson of Ottawa, step grandchildren, Jeremy (Gayle) Johnson and Ashley (Mike) Cheatham, step great grandchildren, Logan, Bregan, Brooklyn, Jett, Harper, Jake and Ethan, brother, Howard (Sherri) Hedrick of Streator and sister, Nita Hedrick of Oregon City, OR.
She is preceded in death buy her parents, son in law, Keith Johnson, brothers, Glen, Virl and Larry, sisters, Inez Heusel, Carol Thomas, Wilma Hedrick in infancy, Genevieve Haynes, and a step grandson Justin Johnson.
Avis attended Streator grade schools and Streator High School. She retired from Owens Illinois Glass and was a member of the Streator Eagles Auxiliary. She bowled for 50 years, golfed and was active with sports.
Memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
