Betty was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist and a member of the Faith Sunday School Class. She will be remembered for her delicious “Betty Wellmon” pound cakes, quilting, and making dresses for missions. A testament of her love of flowers was that she kept her own mother’s fern alive for many years. She also loved cooking Sunday lunch for her family. Betty also enjoyed traveling with the Golden Years church group and family beach trips. She was always up for a competitive Phase Ten card game.
To honor the life of Betty a funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Jim McConnell and Dr. Randy Bridges officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior with a burial to follow at the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in her honor to VIA Health Partners (formerly Hospice of Cleveland County): 951 Wendover Heights Dr, Shelby, NC 28150 or to Zion Baptist Church of Shelby “columbarium fund”: 525 W Zion Church Rd, Shelby, NC 28150
