Dean left an indelible impression on everyone he touched. I worked with Dean through several decades in the power and construction management fields and his dedication to hard work and fair treatment of his co-workers set a high standard for others to follow. His lifelong devotion to Jane (wife of 50 years); his children; grandchildren; and extended family; are a telling tribute to his life. I personally always loved comparing stories with Dean as we had so much in common. We both were born in central Illinois in 1954; married our first loves in 1975; started our careers in the construction trades at the age of 18; worked our way up for 50 years to executive management positions in the nuclear power industry; and through it all always put the best interests of fellow workers first.
The last time we worked side-by-side was at LaSalle in 2008. He told me I was getting soft when I complained about working in 20 below zero temperatures. I should have known better to complain to a tough old farmer/boilermaker like Dean!
When I last talked to Dean in January, he told me "Tommy, I've had a great life". I Guess that says it all.
He will be missed.
Buck Bland.

Dean was just one of the best and kindest people ever I met at LP.
That he and Jane fell in love and had a great life together was a joy!!! Bless you all, and know Dean is always remembered in love , and is in heaven at the side of his savior.

Dean was a good friend and co-worker for a great many years. From the 1980's when we worked together at Lasalle Station (Dean a Boilermaker, me a Com Ed Engineer), to the last ten years when I worked for CB+I/ Allied, and Dean was my boss. His practical common sense and personal warmth will be greatly missed. They do not make good men like Dean anymore, and he will be missed
