Elijah Summers, 96 of Leonore passed away Wednesday (August 13, 2025) at his home.
Elijah was born on June 25, 1929, in Clinton, IL. He married Laura Mitchell on July 19, 1952. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2011.
Surviving are, Linda Tenopir of Arizona, Debra (Mark) Wackerline of LaSalle, Dale (Karen) Summers of Leonore, Jake (Holly) Summers of Tonica, Dennis (Jennifer) Summers of Texas, Dave (Laur) Summers of Streator, Donald (Jim) Summers of Granville and Nancy Pence of Streator, 8 great grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Laura, grandsons Tony, Tommy and Brian.
Elijah graduated from Streator High School in 1947 and retired from Streator Dependable. He enjoyed fishing and attending stock car racing in Grundy County. Elijah was a member of the Richland United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Per his request, cremation rites will be accorded, there will be no services. The Winterrowd Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
