Died: August 1, 2025 in Ottawa, IL
Elizabeth Ann "Bette" Taylor, 83, of Ottawa, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Pavilion of Ottawa.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 8, at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11a.m. Friday, August 8, at St. Columba Catholic Church with Monsignor Mark Merdian officiating. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her family.
Bette was born on October 13, 1941, in Ottawa, IL to Bernard G. and Isabel (Eichelkraut) Broadus. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1959 and attended Rockford Business College. She married Earl E. Taylor on October 28, 1961, at St. Columba Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2019. Bette was employed at Bakelite Plastics for a number of years before taking her position as the City Clerk of Ottawa from where she officially retired. She was a lifelong member of St. Columba Catholic Church.
Bette is survived by her sons, Earl E. "Ed" (Jackie) Taylor, Charles B. (Laura) Taylor, James J. Taylor, and Steven J. (Roxanne) Taylor; grandchildren, Megan (Adam) Siwicki, Amanda (Bill) Dixon, Allison (Greg) German, Michael (Angela) Taylor, Samuel Taylor, Jack Taylor, Margaret (Jeremy Wall) Taylor, and Zachary Taylor; step-grandchildren, Madeline (Brandon Kobilanski) Atwood, and Catherine (Adam) Bosco; great-grandchildren, Blake and Noah Siwicki, Liam, Charlotte, and Olivia Dixon, Eloise and Scarlett German, and Skyler and Rayne Taylor; step great-grandchildren, Theodore and Graham Bosco; brothers, Michael (Rose) Broadus and Jeffrey (CJ) Broadus; and a sister, Laurie Broadus. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl; a sister, Susan Gleeson; brothers, Gerald and Randall Broadus; and daughter-in-law Terrie Taylor.
