Born: May 10, 1940 in Chicago, IL.
Died: July 5, 2025 in Bloomington, IL.
Fred G. Schimek, 85, of Streator passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025 at O.S.F. St. Joesph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Private family graveside services will be held. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born May 10, 1940 in Chicago he was the son of George and Ella ? Connolly. He married Noreen Schimek on July 15, 1967. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2019.
He is survived by his children, Dorothy (Kevin) Ryband of Frankfort, Bobby (Susan Tomashek) Mishka of Ottawa; Mark (Natalie Kovach) Schimek of Streator; grandchildren, Jennifer Erickson, Stacy Ryband, Anthony Russell, Eric Blake, Skyler Schimek and Bethany Schimek; great grandchildren, Christopher Ryband, Kevin Blakemore and Grace Blakemore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Don Schimek.
Born and raised in the Chicago area Fred and his wife Noreen relocated to Streator in the early 1970's. He owned and operated several small businesses through the years including gas stations and a towing company. He also owned and operated a tavern in Wisconsin. He worked for Lagrou Trucking for many years retiring about 15 years ago.
