Died: March 24, 2022 in Sarasota, FL
Gordon Russell Meyer, 81, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Tidewell Hospice House in Sarasota.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 2, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Cheri Stewart, Pastor, of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home.
Gordon was born on August 14, 1940 in Oak Park, IL to Russell and Phyllis (Harsh) Meyer. He was a graduate of Ottawa High School and received his undergraduate from North Central College. Gordon married Nancy Copeland on October 15, 1966 at the First United Methodist Church, in Ottawa. He was a civil engineer with the Illinois Highway Department for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Meyer of Sarasota, FL and Ottawa, IL; a son, Craig (Steven Mayo) Meyer of Winterpark, FL; a son-in-law, Chad (Jenny) Peruba of Geneva, IL; two grandchildren, Emily (Joshua) Poythress of Chicago and Matthew Peruba of Chicago; and a brother, Gilbert (Marcia) Meyer of Deer Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Gail Peruba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the OHS Booster Club.

To the Meyer Family, Susan and I are very sorry to learn of Gordy´s passing. He was a great guy, who always had a smile and a joke for me. We played many rounds of golf together, and I´m pretty sure I never beat him, even though he gave me strokes. Rest In Peace, Friend.
