John Diss Obituary

John Diss, Sr.
Born: April 16, 1938 in Seneca, IL
Died: January 3, 2024 in Ottawa, IL
John Diss Sr., 85 of Ransom, IL passed Wednesday, January 3rd, surrounded by his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
He was born in Seneca, IL on April 16th, 1938, to Jerome and Mary Diss. He worked at Nabisco for 30 years and was the tax assessor for Brookfield and Allen Township for 36 years, but loved working on the farm most of all which he did for 40 years. On November 23, 1957, John married the love of his life, Janet Bottino, which laid the foundation to the incredible family they have today.
John will always be remembered for his hard work ethic, quick wit, and his immense love for his family. We'll always imagine hearing him say "Give a shit, give a shit" one more time. He loved to tell stories to his kids and grandkids and enjoyed being with them so much. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet Diss, his 2 brothers, Frank (Sara) Diss, Charley (Barb) Diss, his children Barb Houston (Ottawa), Michele Armstrong (Pete Bray) (Ottawa), John Diss Jr (Grand Ridge), Jackie Serena (Mike) (Gardner), Sandy Kindred (Chuck) (Ottawa), his 10 grandkids, and 15 great grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Mary Diss, and In-Laws Domenic and Mary Bottino.

So sorry to hear about John. I went to school with his daughter Barb and she rode my school bus. I enjoyed my times visiting with Janet and John as they didn't live very far away.He was a great neighbor to all & a helpful tax collector. He will be missed by all who knew him.
