Died: March 25, 2022 in Marseilles, IL
John Roger Olson, 84, of Marseilles, earned his wings, Friday March 25, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marseilles with Rev. Kris Zierke officiating. Burial will be in Nichol Cemetery in Marseilles with military honors.
He was born July 17, 1937, in Ottawa, to Roger and Mary (Richardson) Olson. On October 10, 1959, he married Judith Johnson of Marseilles who survives.
John was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1959 and was stationed in France. He was employed by Caterpillar in Joliet for 30 years until his retirement. He bowled for over 40 years on many leagues in the area. He loved fishing, hunting, fish fries and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Judith "Judy"; two daughters, Jeanette (Wiff) Partridge of Marseilles and Karen (Carl Bruell) Rankins of AZ; a step-daughter, Kathy (Mark) Bruce of FL; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessica) Partridge, Kelli (Tommy) Prairie, Marissa (Stephen Yalung) Rankins; four great-grandchildren, Tommy, Sinda, and Rella Prairie, and Jayden Partridge; a step-grandson, Billy Partridge; a step-great-granddaughter, Billie Ayn Partridge; a brother, Robert (Barb) Olson; a sister, Carol (Nick) Micetich; and a sister-in-law, Mary Olson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gary and Paul Olson; and his sister, Jean Smith.
Memorials may be given to the Marseilles Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the family.
