With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kirt E. Van Buren December 30, 2024. He was 75 years old and lived in Grand Ridge, Illinois. He died peacefully on December 30, 2024 at OSF Hospital in Ottawa, Illinois after a short illness period.
Kirt was born September 11th, 1949 in Ottawa to Willard and Frances (Williamson) Van Buren. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1967. After high school, Kirt served in the United States army from 1969 to 1971, stationed in Germany. He was with the US Army Pershing Nuclear Missile Unit.
A beloved father, grandfather, stepfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his son, Carrick Van Buren and loving sister Cynthia Van Buren Raine. Two step-daughters, Amanda and Michelle. Nephews Tom, Rick, and Scot Van Buren, Tyler Raine and one niece, Madelyn Raine Stein. Cousins Gregory and Derrick Pendelton, Melinda (Pendelton)Margulis, Jennifer (Pendelton) Dalto, Sharon (Colman) Cobler, David Colman and Martin Van Buren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Carrick L. Van Buren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 1st from 2-4 at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Grand Ridge.
