Lawrence "Larry" John Berta, 79, of Toledo, OH, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 26, 2021 at his residence.
Larry was born August 12, 1942 in Streator, Illinois to the late Jack and Emma (Yednock) Berta.
Larry was a graduate of Valparaiso University. He went on to serve his country in the Army Reserves for 7 years.
His career began in the Accounting Dept. of Owens Illinois in Streator, Illinois. He finished his career as the Comptroller of OI for the Southern Hemisphere, until his retirement from their World Headquarters in Maumee, Ohio in 1997.
Larry's biggest joy was playing golf, he was an active member of Heatherdowns Country Club for 25 years.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Doris (Dennick) Berta. Larry will be greatly missed by his son, David (Shannon) Berta and granddaughters, Olivia (17) and Peyton (15). He is also survived by two sisters, Linda (David) Mayfield of Madison, WI. and Sally Seroka of Conroe, TX; a nephew, Jon McFerren of WI.; nieces, Susan Allen of Illinois and Kristen Williams of Mississippi: and the mother of his son David, June Berta Taylor of Toledo.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 3 at Newcomer Funeral Home- SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo OH 43614.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society NW Ohio.
